"The Recession is Over!"

"The recession is over," Tim said when he announced the news to others that we are pregnant. I think he believes my mother is going to single-handedly turn the economy around with buying things for this baby. Maybe it's time to invest in Baby Gap. We haven't gotten too much stuff yet - just a half a tote full. Mom has been going with the theme of bunnies or ducks, so she bought us a book called Duck! Rabbit!. She says it's all about perception. We're getting into the psychological and emotional teachings already! I'm so glad she's on our team. This little one has much to learn from Omamabon as she calls herself lately.

  1. well done Omamabon rabbits and ducks are quite cute for wee ones, just be sure you throw some smocked things into that tote, I hear they can be hard to come by in the frozen tundra.

  3. You bet, a smocked frock would be hard to come by. I was telling one of my most authentic western neighbors that I wanted to make a quilt for Lee out of the scraps from the dresses Lee's grandmother made for her. My neigbor, Grace, exclaimed, oh, my mother made a quilt out of pieces from my baby clothes. I said, oh, I must see it; is it all different pastels?! She quipped back immediately, No! I've never worn anything pastel in my life! But the Holladay response will be yes, yes, pinks and baby blues, lace and smocking and maryjane shoes, with big, big bows in her hair -- unless -- it's a boy.
Then -- Robbie says -- NO LACE! But you know what they say now days -- What happens at Gramma's STAYS at Gramma's! Isn't that right, Lee? Isn't that what you got away with?!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!! OMB

  4. How fun is this. Thanks for forwarding the blog to me. I will certainly feel a part of this pregnancy - long distance, of course. Lee, I love your writing. You are so like your omamabon. We do hope, boy or girl(I vote for girl) there will be pastels, even if you are in the wild, wild west. Love your cat for me. Hopefully by winter, her fur is nice and thick again. Also, love to Robbie. And, Tim is right, the recession is over and we thank you and Robbie for helping us out. Congrats to you both. Stay healthy and enjoy every minute of this wonderful time in your life. Keep your southern roots!Love ya, AH

  5. Lee, Mimi and I have been enjoying your blog along with some of the information about your friends and "followers". Mimi asked where was little Zach. You'll have to place a picture of him here too, since we've "followed" his growing up for these last few years.
Mimi also said that she wanted you to pray that her fingers would get better so that she could make your little darling something. I reminded her that she already had made "her" a number of smocked dresses and embroidered collars that you wore! We'll only have a problem if it's a boy, which she voted for, by the way!
The number of people wanting to be there in November is growing. There's Ross and his attorney buddies, Mimi, Gynn, dad, me, ... How big is the delivery room?? Oh, and Jazz doesn't want to be left out either.
Mimi is also saying she would like for the baby to have blue eyes.
    Love and bunny hugs!!!

  6. Well, I am a late bloomer but I will sign my name so you know which anonymoose I am. I just bought a new blouse today in the trendy 1960's-70's style and I, too, could pass for pregnant except the wrinkles give me away. I am really opting for a boy. I love my little boys so much. I also am one not to want smocks and little pants on boys so you will have to deal with me later. I love your blog and your wonderful wit that is genetically correct. Love to you both.GG
